Remember back in 2009?
A bunch of queers protested at Mount Hope Church in Lansing Michigan with banners and fliers.
According to a press release from Mount Hope Infinity:
On Wednesday, March 16th, Google will be forced to hand over the email accounts of two queer activists from Portland, Oliver Hayes and Kat Enyeart, to the evangelical Mt. Hope Church in Lansing, MI. Both Portlanders are subpoenaed because of their alleged ties to the Bash Back.
However no factual evidence has been produced to support such a relationship existing and both deny membership in the organization.
It saddens me that a church would be aligning itself with the Alliance Defense Fund and spending valuable resources stalking and subpoenaing people involved in a legal action that resulted in no criminal charges. The church is demonstrating an obsession with persecution unbecoming to followers of the forgiving and loving Jesus.
What’s most ridiculous about the entire Mt. Hope attack on Bash Back is that the banner the activists brought into the church read, “It’s Okay to be Gay.” How benign.
The congregation at Mt. Hope must have trembled in its shoes at the non-violent, legal assertion of gay … “okayishness.”
Send love and solidarity to the folks who protested Mount Hope. Send love and solidarity to the queers being picked on by the Alliance Defense Fund.
Fight for love and a queer life well beyond okay.
